The Nemaha Valley Bassmasters club is a member of the Nebraska B.A.S.S. Federation. The club was formed in 1997. Most of our members live in the southeast Nebraska area, but our tournaments are held at various nearby lakes in Nebraska, Kansas & Missouri. Tournament Point System

 

15 points for attending tournament (remains 15 pts. for double points tournaments)

5 points for each club meeting attended

 

1st place = 35 points + 1 point for every other angler in attendance

2nd place = 25 points

3rd place = 20 points

4th place = 15 points

5th place = 12 point

6th place = 7 points

7th place = 4 points

8th place = 3 points

9th place = 2 points

10th thru 20th place = 1 point.

 

(At least one legal fish must be caught to score finishing place points.)

   

The member with the highest total at the end of the tournament year will be proclaimed "Angler of the Year"

Information about Tournament Rules, Prospective Members, Discipline, and Dues

   

Tournament Rules

1. Safety

a.) The tournament director may delay or cancel the tournament if unsafe conditions occur. (lightning, high wind, etc.)

b.) Life preservers must be worn any time the outboard engine in running.  The boat operator will also be required to have a kill switch attached to his person.

c.) No alcoholic beverages are allowed during tournament hours.

d.) Any person receiving a citation during tournament hours will be disqualified for that day.

e.) Boat owner will be required to have all safety equipment on board as required by law.

2. Entry Fee & Payback

a.) Entry fees for all tournaments will be set by the tournament director

b.) Payback will be 1st place - 50%, 2nd place - 30%, 3rd place - 20%

c.) 20% of all entry fees will go to the club treasury

d.) A big bass competition will be held each tournament with a voluntary entry fee set by the tournament director.  The winner of big bass takes 100% of the pot.

e.) Upon tournament cancellation due to unsafe conditions, all entry fees will be refunded.

f.) All entry fees must be paid prior to each tournament at the pre-tournament meeting which be held the Thursday before each tournament.  Fees will be collected by the club treasurer and winnings will be distributed by same.  If a member wishes to fish a tournament but cannot attend the pre-tournament meeting, notify the club president, secretary-treasurer, or the tournament director.

3. Expenses

a.) Boat owner will have a full tank of fuel in both the tow vehicle and boat at the beginning of the day and each unit will be filled up at the end of the tournament day with boater and partner splitting the cost.  $5.00 for local events (Iron Horse, Pony Creek, etc.)

b.) Expenses for lodging during tournaments requiring overnight stays will be split equally between all persons sharing the facilities.

c.) All tournament entrants will be responsible for their own personal expenses incurred during tournaments. (food, beverages, etc.)

4. Tournament Rules

a.) All fish weighed must be of legal length according to the laws of the state in which tournament is held, unless special limits are set for the particular body of water in which the tournament is held.  Only largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and Kentucky spotted bass are eligible.

b.) Qualifying fish will be weighed with official club scales which will be checked and registered to each boater before each tournament, recorded, and released.  Special arrangements may be made with the tournament committee to keep exceptionally large fish.

c.) A maximum of five (5) fish can be counted at weigh-in. Participant may record all qualifying fish and eliminate all but the top five (5).

d.) Any and all disputes must be made within 15 minutes after weigh-in and be directed to the tournament director.

e.) Anyone late for weigh-in will be penalized 1 lb. per minute late.  Official time will be kept by the tournament director.

f.) Fishing will be permitted anywhere except 1) within fifty (50) yards of another competing boat, 2) within fifty (50) yards of the gas pumps at the designated launch site marina, or 3) within other lake areas restricted against fishing.  As common courtesy, the second boat arriving in an area is restricted to bein fishing at least fifty (50) yards behind (not in front of) the first boat.  In the case of elongated cover or shoreline, the second boat is permitted to begin fishing one hundred (100) yards ahead of the first boat.

g.) Only artificial lures are permitted as bait.

 

Prospective Members

Prospective members must have a Nemaha Valley Bassmaster member in good standing as a sponsor.  The member will propose the name of the candidate at a regular meeting (or tournament) on which the candidate will be voted on by secret ballot by attending members.  Two nays will null the vote.  If a candidate is elected he may at the next regular club function remit his membership dues and be eligible for all rights and benefits of the Nemaha Valley Bassmasters.

Any person denied membership must wait a full year before applying again.

   

Discipline

If any member of the Nemaha Valley Bassmasters is involved in any activity deemed by club members to be disgraceful or portrays a negative image of the entire club, he will be subject to club discipline.  The charges will be brought up at a regular club meeting.  Members present will vote by secret ballot for or against discipline.  Majority rules.  If the vote is for discipline, that discipline will consist of the member's ineligibility to participate in any club function for one month. Two disciplines in one year span or 12 month period will result in complete expulsion from the club.  If the vote is for no discipline, the charge will remain on record for one year and if another charge is made within that year, a mandatory one month discipline will be enforced.

 

Dues

Membership dues will be due by January 1st of each year and delinquent by April 1st of that year.  No delinquent member may attend any club function i.e. club meetings, tournaments, etc., while in deliquency.  If a member fails to pay his dues within the calendar year Jan 1st - Jan 1st, his membership will be expired. Any member that allows his membership to expire and wishes reinstatement must petition the club in writing, expressing his desires.  That petition will be read at a regular meeting and voted on by attending members by secret ballot.  Two nays will deny readmission. If a member is admitted, it will be required of him to pay dues for one lapsed year and the ensuing year.  If a member fails to pay his dues by April 1st, becoming delinquent and remains deliquent after Nov. 1st of that year, it will be necessary for him to pay dues for that year and the ensuing year in one remittance by Jan. 1st to be a member in good standing.
